If you are constantly fighting to get your kids to eat their fruits and vegetables, then this tip is for you. Thankfully there is plenty to choose from during the summer months. But often the hardest part is not finding delicious fruits and vegetables, but getting your kids to try them. Why not make it fun and surprise them with a delicious frozen treat this week that looks suspiciously like a milkshake. The fact that this drink is actually made from things like fruit, milk and yogurt can be our little secret.

You can make smoothies from all sorts of different fruits and those can be either fresh or frozen. We like berries, bananas, pineapples and peaches a lot in ours. Of course you can mix and match just about any fruits. Just toss whatever sounds good to you in the blender. Start with some fruit and flavors that you know your child loves. Got a child who likes strawberries and vanilla ice cream? Make a smoothie from frozen strawberries and vanilla yogurt along with a bit of juice or milk. If your child likes bananas and absolutely loves chocolate ice cream, blend some frozen slices of banana with chocolate milk.

Once you have them addicted to these delicious frozen drinks, you can start to incorporate other types of fruits like kiwis, mango, papaya and melons. Don’t be afraid to add a little sugar or honey to the smoothie to make it taste good.

My daughter’s favorite right now is this strawberry pineapple smoothie recipe, but she also enjoys a yummy banana smoothie or even mango and pineapple ones. Give a few different smoothie recipes a try and I am sure you find one that your kids will love.

If your child isn’t big into milk and yogurt, make a smoothie with orange juice instead. You can of course also use soy or rice milk to make these delicious treats. Don’t forget to make your own smoothie by the way. Your body can use those vitamins just as much.

You can even sneak some vegetables into your smoothies. The now famous green smoothie is a good example of that. Start with something simple like adding some carrot juice to your favorite fruit smoothie. I also like a little spinach or celery in my smoothies. I usually end to leave dairy products out of it when I include vegetables.

Wine making is nothing new—it is a procedure which has been put to use for hundreds of years. Within the beginning, wine makers didn’t have all the technology and materials that winemakers have today. Even though this shows that wines might be made utilizing a lot a simpler process, the truth is that several factors of contemporary technology make fruit wine a lot easier—such as yeast.

Yes, Yeast—In Its Organic Environment

Yeast is an important ingredient to wine making, however it’s not new. Yeast has been taking part within the making of wines since the very beginning, even before becoming discovered by Louis Pasteur within the 1850s. However, it’s only lately that wine makers started including yeast throughout the winemaking procedure.

Yeast can be found naturally through the environment. It’s literallyeverywhere–within the atmosphere, on the trees, within the grass, as well as on the crushed fruits that are utilized to create wine. Even when it wasn’t recognized that crushed grapes and other fruit were becoming naturally fermented by yeast, the yeast was still playing an active role within the procedure.

However, making fruit wines with yeast utilizing the natural fermentation technique does not have a completely foolproof success rate. In fact, it’s common for crushed fruits that’s naturally fermenting to attract other elements aside from yeast—such as bacteria and germs. Such microorganisms destroy the winemaking procedure, and wine makers do not will not realize the result they expect.

Winemaking was totally changed after the breakthrough discovery that yeast could be isolated, preserved, and packaged. By including packaged yeast to the smashed fruits, the home wine making procedure can happen without the nuisance of bacteria and germs. Now, the fruit is sterilized and then yeast is added as part from the fermentation procedure. Packaged yeast has increased the success rate of winemaking.

Additionally, a lot of of the isolated strands of yeast that are obtainable today are more conducive to winemaking. For instance, strains of yeasts utilized in wine fermentation are bred to take full advantage of the quantity of alcohol that could be obtained from the fruit, and also to extract the best flavor possible from the fruit. In this way, scientific developments have allowed the winemaking procedure to turn out to be more effective.

A Part Of the Process

Though yeast is only a little part of the winemaking procedure, it’s clear just how important of an ingredient it really is to the procedure. Wine making has become more successful and efficient—all due to a tiny thing called yeast.
