Getting to know the signs of pregnancy will help you find out if you’re pregnant even before you take a pregnancy test. There are many early signs that take place even before your first missed period.
Early signs of pregnancy can sometimes be confused with premenstrual syndromes. Many women report having cramping and spotting after conceiving. They also feel moody and tired.
But if you are pregnant you’ll note that the mood changes and fatigue are somewhat different than with PMS. Your fatigue will not go away after a few days. Your moodiness will be more intense and include emotional “highs.” The fatigue won’t last forever – most women experience a boost of energy during the second trimester. But the moodiness might stick around.
Of course there is always the “typical” sign of pregnancy: morning sickness. Most women feel slightly queasy, but only some actually throw up. It’s also fairly common to feel sick at the end of the day, rather than the beginning. If you do have trouble with a sensitive stomach, don’t worry. Nausea rarely lasts past 14 weeks.
Have you ever heard a pregnant women be described as “glowing?” That’s due to a change in your skin when you become pregnant. All those hormones making you feel bad are also making you look wonderful. Your skin may clear and you’ll have rosy cheeks. The rosy cheeks can also be attributed to your rise in body temperature. Pregnant women are slightly warmer than the norm, and this lasts for the whole nine months.
Your senses change as well when you are pregnant. Your sense of taste and smell will be heightened. You’ll be able to identify subtle smells and tastes in food, which can cause some sudden food avoidances. Your favorite foods might not taste the same anymore, and other foods may give you nausea!
If you notice any of these signs before you’ve missed your period, you might likely be pregnant. The chances are even greater if you recognize many or all of them. If you suspect you’re pregnant, wait until three days after your missed period and take an at home pregnancy test.
