Pregnancy Photos: Commemorate Your Pregnancy

Pregnancy photos
are an individual choice, and because of that, there are many different types of pregnancy photos. Some women choose to document the increasing size of their tummy, and others like to have professional portraits taken when they are fully pregnant.

For the best "do it yourself" pregnancy photos, try to take a photo on the same day each month. You can do it on your future due date so it's easy to remember. If you're due May 18th, take a belly picture on the 18th of each month. Or if you are really ambitious you could take weekly photos. Some women find a happy medium and take a regular monthly photo and then a special photo at the start of each trimester.

Belly pictures work best when you can really see the progress of your growth. Showing your bare belly will capture your growth the best. But if you're self conscious about showing your belly, try wearing a tight fitting shirt.

Contrast is important in pregnancy photos. If you're going bare bellied, stand in front of a wall or backdrop that contrasts with your skin tone. If you're going to cover up, a black shirt against a white wall will really show your growth.

Stand in the same position each month with your body parallel to the wall. Once your belly starts to grow, you'll be able to see your expanding midsection really well in this position.

Make sure you keep track of when the photos are taken. If you have a camera with a date stamp or a digital camera that will help you remember what week you are at. If you don't have a date stamp, you can point to a calendar or have a sign in your picture showing the week.

After you've taken your pregnancy photos, make sure to keep them in a special place. You could incorporate them into your child's baby book, or make a special scrapbook for your belly shots. When your child gets older they'll have a lot of fun looking at Mommy's tummy grow!
