Whether you’re trying to get pregnant or not, women like to know their odds of getting pregnant. There are so many different changes that go on with a woman’s body through her life time. Becoming pregnant is one of the biggest changes she will go through so naturally she would want to know what her odds are. The answer to that will vary greatly depending on many factors. In this article I will describe some of the odds of becoming pregnant.
Father Time is the Culprit
Age will be one of the biggest factors in your odds of getting pregnant. Naturally if you are younger your chances will be very high. Females in their teens and 20’s have the highest odds. Their eggs are younger, and their bodies and uterus’s are in top condition for having babies.
Estrogen levels are very high in a woman’s earlier years. Through a woman’s life time she will produce about 400 eggs. This usually happens once a month. As a woman get into her early 30’s her odds go down by 10 to 15%. In her mid to late 30’s it has dropped by 50%. By the time a woman gets into her 40’s her fertility has dropped by 90%.
High or Low Odds
In a normal 28 day cycle a woman is only fertile for about 2 days. Sperm can live an average of 48 hours inside a woman’s body. This now gives a woman 3 days she is able to become pregnant. If you only have sex once a month you have an 11% chance of getting pregnant. The more you have sex the higher your odds get. Knowing when your fertile days are and having sex on those days will greatly increase the odds also.
Don’t take Risks
Some young girls may think, cool if I have sex on the days I’m not fertile then I won’t get pregnant. This can be a misconception. During your younger years your body is still changing and your cycles may not always fall on the same day and your fertile days will also change. If you’re not ready to have a baby its best to play it safe and abstain from sex, if you’re not willing to do that than using birth control is your best odds of not becoming pregnant. If you are trying to become pregnant you now know your odds a little bit more.
