Don't let this get to you. It is quite common to adjust medication and acne treatment until the ideal combination is found. In some cases, isotretinoin, antibiotics, and even oral contraceptives are used to treat nodulocystic acne.

It may be necessary to surgically excise and drain the cysts or nodules. As mentioned before, a doctor should be present at all times. Another treatment option includes the use of intralesional corticoid injections to dissolve large cysts.
